Paul Sarno

Paul Sarno (J.D., Columbia Law School; B.A., University of Pennsylvania) practiced civil litigation and trusts and estates law in New York City for thirty-eight years. Since retirement in 2002, he has taught Southeast Asian history, political science, and culture to senior citizens in, among other places, the Pierian Spring Academy and Lifelong Learning Academy in Sarasota, Florida and Lifelong Learning Institute in Norwalk, Connecticut. Paul currently resides in Sarasota, Florida and Westport, Connecticut.

Paul, whose interests include Burmese law and the drug trade, has published a book, Civil Procedure (Matthew Bender), and several articles, including: “The War On Drugs in Myanmar," Southeast Asian Affairs (2009, The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, pp. 223–41); "Myanmar Impasses: Alternatives to Isolation and Engagement?" in Asian Journal of Political Science, 14:1 (September 2009, pp. 40-63, with Ardeth Maung Thawnmaung); and book reviews for the Bulletin of the Burma Studies Group.
